while training them.

"My love affair with dogs started when I was 10 years old. I read every dog novel I could get my hands on: Jim Kjelgaard, Jack London, Albert Payson Terhune, not to mention the wonderful Lassie Come-Home by Eric Knight and the lesser-known Goodbye, My Lady (James H. Street) and The Dog in My Life (Kurt Unkelbach). In the case of the last, it didn't hurt that the main character was just like me: a horse-crazy Labrador owner who was 10 years old. However, it was the book Champion/Companion Dog Prince Tom (Tom Clute) that started me down the road to obedience training. If I wanted to be in the conformation ring with a Labrador like my Jeff, I *really* wanted to be ticking off title after title like the boy who recorded Prince Tom's progress from CD to CDX to UD. Unfortunately, life gets in the way and I was never able to train my childhood dogs the way I wanted to train them. I came very close with my Doberman, Carnelian, but he constantly threw up in the car when we tried to travel to class or to competitions, so we quiet after his first match. My very first titled obedience dog was my Toy Fox Terrier, URO1 AKC and UKC Ch. LoupGarou Kajun-Fox Beausoleil, CD, RA, NA, NAJ, CGC. Needless to say, I was hooked, not just on dog sports, but also by the Toy Fox Terrier breed. Beau was not only smart and tough, but he also was willing to do anything I asked him to do. I believe he would have jumped into the open mouth of a waiting lion if he thought it would have made me happy. In addition to training Beau, I've also had the pleasure of training my collie, Showboat Saintsational Season (Glitter) to multiple performance titles and giving two other TFTs a good start to future agility competition. Over the years, I have been increasingly involved with the dog world. In 2001, I began showing Beau in conformation classes. In 2003, I graduated from the Triple Crown Dog Trainer's Academy in Hutto, TX. In 2010, I taught some rally obedience classes for Louisiana Capitol City Obedience Club and started Beau on his agility journey. Since then, I have finished both AKC and UKC championships on several dogs, become a CGC evaluator, and joined Hammond Obedience Training as an agility instructor. I have also had the privilege in judging a conformation show for the International Canine Events registry. Eventually, I would like to become both a SPOT evaluator and a conformation judge for the United Kennel Club. I hope to be active in teaching the upcoming S.T.A.R. Puppy classes and to remain active in offering H.O.T. the Canine Good Citizen test several times each year. Anne and H.O.T. do a lot for the people and dogs in their community and I am proud to be part of it."
